A fast paced life of business and immense success deserves a place of pause and reflection .The longing of home for a gulf settled family lies in the embrace of the natural bounty of Kerala and its Monsoon. The design of the house revolved around a desire to live closer to nature, to enhance the character of living spaces by blurring the boundaries of inside and outside.

The family house intends to serve as a homebase for a family of fourteen spanning three generations during their holidays and frequent business visits. Hence the design of the spaces has to encompass a plurality of activities and a flexible nature of spaces to accommodate the varying energies of the family.

The plurality of spaces is further elaborated by the social engagements, wide networks and public interactions of the family which requires a fine degree of spatial articulation between the public, semi-public, semi private, private, intimate and service zones. This ensures that the family can maintain its hospitality and entertain guests while their privacy is not compromised.

The design of the house revolves around a desire to live closer to nature, to enhance the character of living spaces by blurring the boundaries of the inside and outside. The relationships between the built and unbuilt are to be studied meticulously to arrive at a metaphorical balance between man and nature. Additionally, the house also aims to incorporate state-of-theart technology in Smart home technology, intelligent building maintenance systems, sustainable methodologies of construction and efficiency in its usage and lifetime. Scalable systems of technology would ensure that systems are upgradable and relavent through the ages.
